EUROIRON 1 is a Specific Targeted Research Project (STREP) funded by the ‘Life Sciences, Genomics and Biotechnology for Health (LifeSciHealth)’ priority of the Sixth Research and Technological Development Framework Programme (FP6) of the European Community.

The aims of the project are to establish the mechanisms, both at the genetic and molecular levels, responsible for the development of two main types of abnormal iron distribution in humans and for their phenotypic variability.

Euroiron1 involves 12 partners from 6 countries.
